What You Need to Know
  • During the week of September 16, crews are working on utility tie-in work in the four quadrants of the Cowles Street and Airport Way intersection. Please be aware of flagging operations directing pedestrians around the work-zone. Drivers should use caution when traveling through or turning at this intersection as workers will be present and working close to the roadway.
  • Drivers should watch for advisories on the message boards.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working at various locations throughout the Fairbanks area. Work includes reconstructing right-turn ramps to improve sight distance, upgrading traffic signals and installing roadside hardware at multiple intersections. Crews will work on Ramp A, westbound Johansen Expressway/northbound College Road, Ramp B, eastbound Johansen Expressway/southbound College Road, Ramp C, eastbound Johansen Expressway/southbound Peger Road and Ramp D, northbound Illinois Street/southbound College Road. This project is expected to be complete in December 2020.
