What You Need to Know
  • Work is wrapping up for this construction season. PILOT CAR operations are complete. Paving is completed from the intersection at College Road and University Avenue to Ballaine Road. The contractor will be making some additional minor repairs before the end of the season.
  • The multi-use path from College toad to Ballaine Road intersections is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
  • The rest of Farmer’s Loop, from Ballaine to the Steese Highway, including the multi-use paths, will be repaved next season.
  • Day work continues from North Tanana Drive to the Ballaine Road intersection from 8:00am to 10:00pm, expect pavement breaks, gravel surfaces and flagging operations with short DELAYS of 10 minutes.
Traffic Impacts

Drivers should be aware of pedestrians, expect DELAYS and loose gravel on the roadway. Please drive with caution through the work areas. Pay special attention, and follow signs for changing traffic patterns when traveling through the construction zone. Thank you for your patience.

Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working in cooperation with Exclusive Paving to freshly pave street surfaces, improve lighting, traffic signals and drainage. This project is scheduled to be complete by October 2017. Work on Farmers Loop for the 2017 season includes installing a signal interconnect system from College Road/University Avenue intersection to Ballaine Road intersection, and resurface Farmers Loop and adjoining bike path from College Road/University Avenue intersection to Ballaine Road intersection.  The 2018 construction season will see the complete resurfacing of Farmers Loop and bike path from Ballaine Road intersection to Steese Highway.
