- Work has resumed and is currently in progress between the Stedman Street Bridge and Deermount Street.
- This project will begin with sidewalk demolition and reconstruction on both sides of Stedman Street and will transition to roadbed construction during summer 2018 in this same area.
- Pedestrian DETOURS will allow business access for pedestrians in construction zones.
- Please expect intermittent SINGLE LANE traffic patterns as well as flagging operations, please plan your trip accordingly.
Drivers please pay attention to traffic control personnel and make sure to read the electronic message boards for up-to-date information. Drivers should also be aware that bridge repairs will begin on Stedman Street in July 2018. Also, in fall 2018, construction will begin on Front and Mill Streets and will include sidewalks being reconstructed with roadway resurfacing to follow.
The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Secon Inc., is working to reconstruct Front Street, Mill Street and Stedman Streets in Downtown Ketchikan. Beginning at the intersection with Grant Street (Water Street Tunnel) to west of Stedman and Deermount Street's intersection. Work will include the demolition and reconstruction of pedestrian facilities and sidewalks, bridge deck repairs, bridge substructure repairs, removal of buried dock pilings and caps from the roadbed, storm drain improvements, pavement rehabilitation, as well as signing and striping.
