       ROAD CLOSURE

STERLING HIGHWAY BELUGA LAKE DAM IMPROVEMENTS ROAD CONSTRUCTION through mid July
What You Need to Know
  • The area of impact for this construction is approximately a 1/2 mile, with guard rails on both sides of the highway.
Traffic Impacts

Traffic lanes will be redirected between the guardrails to allow equipment to work on either side of the Sterling Highway. Construction will happen on one side of the road at a time, allowing the maximum amount of driving surface. Please slow down and drive with caution.

Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in partnership with Jay-Brant General Contractors LLC, is working to replace the Beluga Lake Dam. Work will include lining the existing culverts in place. Levels of Beluga Lake will be maintained to ensure floatplanes can continue to utilize the lake as well as ensure no flooding will occur in the area.
