What You Need to Know
  • Drivers should expect LANE CLOSURES, ONE-LANE TRAFFIC and flagging operations, Monday through Sunday, 8:00pm to 7:00am.
  • Construction crews have begun milling operations between MP 77 and 79. Traffic will drive on a gravel surface until foaming operations begin Monday, June 18.
  • During foaming and paving work, drivers should expect PILOT CAR operations and 15 to 20 minute DELAYS, Monday through Sunday, 8:00pm to 8:00am.
  • Crews will continue to work north from MP 67 and 69. Watch for flagging and PILOT CAR operations, with 5 to 10 minute DELAYS.
Traffic Impacts

Major cut/fill operations will continue between Sterling Highway MP 60 and 62. Crews will also be reconstructing side streets and approaches between MP 77 and 79. Watch for flaggers and PILOT CAR operations at these locations, with 5 to 10 minute delays.

Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in partnership with Granite Construction, is working to improve road conditions on the Sterling Highway from MP 58 to 79. Upgrades will include road resurfacing, shoulder widening, passing lanes, pedestrian walkway for Skyline trail access, as well as replacing existing culvert with a new bridge at the East Fork Moose River.
