What You Need to Know
  • Watch for equipment and crew in the roadway from MP 63 (Mystery Creek) to 77. 
  • Beginning the week of April 9, crews will begin hauling material to and from MP 70. 
  • Work at MP 58 (North Skilak Lake road entrance) is scheduled to begin the week of April 23. 
  • Expect lane CLOSURES, one-lane traffic and flagging operations, Monday through Saturday, 7:00am to 7:00pm.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation in partnership with Granite Construction are working to improve road conditions on the Sterling Highway from milepost 58 to 79. Upgrades will include road resurfacing, shoulder widening, passing lanes, pedestrian walkway for Skyline trail access as well as replacing existing culvert with a new bridge at the East Fork Moose River.

  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
